CREEK TOPS BUCKEYE LOCAL
WINTERSVILLE -- The Indian Creek volleyball team avenged an early season loss to Buckeye Local by sweeping the Panthers Thursday evening at home, 25-23, 25-21, 25-20. for their first win of the season.
Nina Householder tallied nine digs, six kills and two aces, Danica Stellfox had 10 digs and an ace, Kylie Dray recorded five kills, four blocks and a dig, Phoenyx Vines recorded 16 digs, six aces and a kill, Maddie Moran had 12 assists, four aces, three kills and nine digs and Meghan Pailoemilio had seven assists, five kills, eight digs and an ace.
Creek (1-8) visits Beaver Local on Monday, while the Panthers (2-7) travel to Shadyside on Saturday.
WEIR ENDS EDISON’S STREAK
RICHMOND -- The Weir High volleyball team snapped Edison’s winning streak with a four set win on the road against the Wildcats Thursday, 26-24, 25-20, 20-25, 25-15.
Liliana Ascencio had 24 assists, five digs and an ace, Ella Kaufman tallied 12 kills, 13 digs, two assists and an ace, Gabby Sprouse recorded seven kills, six digs, two aces and two blocks, Zanyah Whitaker tallied six kills, Alivia Macek had 10 digs and three aces and Lauren Nagy registered 12 digs and three aces.
Edison (4-4) had won its last four-straight. The Red Riders improve to 4-6.
Weir is scheduled to visit Oak Glen on Tuesday, while Edison looks to bounce back against Southern Local on Saturday.
BOYS SOCCER
BIG RED, BEAVER DRAW
CALCUTTA -- The Big Red boys soccer team battled to a 4-4 draw at Beaver Local on Thursday.
Steubenville, now 5-1-1, got two goals from Landon Bowers and a goal each from Teddy Gorman and Joel Elliot. Jackson Smith, Nat Chipps and Gabe Loot had an assist each.
In goal, JJ Lamantia made seven saves.
Big Red visits John Marshall on Saturday.

BIG RED ROLLS PAST JM
STEUBENVILLE -- The Big Red girls soccer team rolled past visiting John Marshall on Thursday night, 9-1.
Big Red, now 4-2-2, visits Philo on Saturday.
CREEK TOPS BROOKE
WINTERSVILLE -- The Indian Creek girls soccer team won its third-straight match on Thursday, topping visiting Brooke 4-1.
The Redskins, now 4-5, go to Union Local next Tuesday.
HUSKIES DOWN MAGNOLIA
CADIZ -- The Harrison Central girls soccer team got back in the win column on Thursday with a 4-1 win over Magnolia at home.
Abigail Patterson had a goal and three assists and Marley Zeroski tallied her second hattrick of the season scoring three times in the second half for the Huskies (4-5). Emeri Sefsick tallied an assist. Lilli Smith made two saves in net.
The Huskies take on New Philadelphia on Saturday at home.
OAK GLEN DOWNS THE POTTERS
NEW MANCHESTER - Bailey Watts found the net three times and assisted on three other net-finders as the Golden Bears rolled against their cross-river rival East Liverpool 6-0.
Camryn Richards was only called upon to make four saves in earning the shutout.
Kendall Krzys had a pair of goals and two helpers, while Angelina Polly added a goal and Amelia Kampmeyer an assist.

BIG RED GETS BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN
TORONTO -- After a couple of tough losses, the third match of the week was the charm for the Big Red golf team.
Steubenville topped host Toronto and Madonna in a tri at Dyer Country Club on Thursday in its third match in as many days.
Big Red fired a team score of 158, led by match medalist Jaggar Rawson’s even-par 35. Noah Kokiko fired a 39, Gino Scaffidi a 40, Patrick Jenkins a 44, Max Henderson a 53 and Rudy Paris a 63.
Big Red, now 19-9 overall, is back in action on Monday hosting Edison and Indian Creek on senior day at Steubenville Country Club.
