BEAVER TOPS BIG RED, CREEK
STEUBENVILLE -- The Beaver Local golf team topped Big Red and Indian Creek Monday in a tri-match at Steubenville Country Club, while a Creek golfer was the top individual.
The Beavers carded a team score of 160, eight strokes better than Steubenville and 23 better than Creek, to take the top spot. Individually, Indian Creek’s Riley Guskea carded a one-under par 35 to take match medalist honors by two strokes over Big Red’s Andrew Matzorkis and one shot ahead of Beaver Local’s Eli Stewart.
Also for Big Red, which saw their overall season mark go to 16-5, Jaggar Rawson shot a 38, Joel Elliott a 46, Noah Kokiko a 47 and Pat Jenkins and Gino Scaffidi each shot 48s.
Also for Creek, Garrin Clark tallied a 42, David Pawelczyk had a 52, Zeke Roe a 54, Maddox Barnett a 55 and Will Kelly a 60.
Big Red competes in a five-team, nine-hole match at Woodview Golf Course today against Weir High, Toronto, Oak Glen and Madonna.
Indian Creek competes in the second round of the Buckeye 8 Tournament today at Belmont Country Club.
EDISON GIRLS TOP BEAVER
RICHMOND -- The Edison girls golf team defeated Beaver Local on Monday.
Kallie McKeegan shot a 42 to lead the Wildcats, while Mady Cornell shot a 43, Teagan Basinger a 44 and Bella Evans a 49 in the victory.
EDISON TIES TORONTO
RICHMOND -- The Edison and Toronto golf teams each shot scores of 183 to tie in a duel match on Monday.
eading the way for the Wildcats were Jordan Everhart with a 43, Xander Haught with a 44, Dylan Long with a 48 and Liam Bissett also with a 48.
HUSKIES, TIGERS SPLIT
CADIZ - Harrison Central and Shadyside split in high school golf on Monday at the Cadiz Country Club.
The Huskies prevailed in girls' action with a four-player score of 222 as Reese Dunlap led the way with a 47. The Tigers, who fielded just three players, were paced by Callie O'Donnell with a 52.
In boys action, Shadyside's Wyatt Parr earned medalist honors with a 40, one shot ahead of Harrison Central's Jax Triplett.
GIRLS SOCCER
CRUSADERS FALL TO ROSECRANS
STEUBENVILLE -- Catholic Central dropped a 4-1 decision on Monday to visiting Bishop Rosecrans.
Central (1-3-0) got a goal from Zelie Baillargeon off an assist from Zoe Wise.
In net, Addalee Long made six saves and Mia Doyle one.
The Crusaders visit Linsly on Thursday.
CREEK FALLS TO UNITED
HANOVERTON -- The Indian Creek girls soccer team dropped a 10-1 loss on the road at United on Monday.
The Redskins visit St. Clairsville on Thursday.
