BOYS SOCCER

EDISON TOPS CREEK

RICHMOND -- The Edison boys soccer team secured a 5-1 victory over rival Indian Creek on Thursday at home at the Edison Unified Sports Complex.

The victory was the first of the season for Edison, now 1-2-1. Creek is now 0-2.

The Wildcats visit Catholic Central on Tuesday, while the Redskins travel to Harrison Central the same night.

BROOKE, CENTRAL TIE

STEUBENVILLE -- The Brooke and Catholic Central boys soccer teams battled to a 0-0 tie on Thursday at the Tony Rencinella Soccer Field.

Brooke’s Bronson Pack made 12 saves.

The Bruins (1-2-1) take on Beaver Local on Saturday, while the Crusaders (1-1-) host Edison on Tuesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

CREEK WINS BIG OVER HARRISON

WINTERSVILLE -- The Indian Creek girls soccer team got in the win column in a big way at home on Thursday evening, topping visiting Harrison Central 7-1 on the artificial pitch at Kettlewell Stadium for its first win of the season.

Payton Rath and Chloe Flesher each scored two goals, while Kaydence Walker, Nyrobie Harmon and Maryn Barcalow also netted a goal each.

The Huskies got a goal from Abigail Patterson on an assist from Rayne Miller. Lilli Smith made 17 saves and Jax Phillipson stopped five shots.

Creek (1-2) visits United on Monday, while the Huskies (2-3) visit Edison on Tuesday.

BROOKE FALLS AT WHEELING CENTRAL

WELLSBURG -- The Maroon Knights’ busy week continued with a decisive victory against the Bruins, 10-0.

Central (3-0) received hat tricks from both sophomore Elah Konkle and junior Elizabeth Steele. Loni Kusic and Maddie Steele evenly divided the remaining four goals.

BIG RED TOPS EDISON

STEUBENVILLE -- The Big Red golf team added another duel win to its record with a 159-190 victory over Edison on Thursday.

Steubenville, now 8-2 in duels and 15-4 overall, was led by match medalist Andrew Matzorkis with a score of 35. Jaggar Rawson fored a 38, Noah Kokiko and Max Henderson a 43 each, Pat Jenkins a 45 and Gino Scaffidi a 53.

Edison was led by Xander Haught with a 43, Jordan Everhart with a 45, Beckett Dopp with a 49, Liam Bissett with a 53, Dylan Long with a 54 and Ayden Stacey with a 61.

Big Red hosts a tri against Beaver Local and Indian Creek Monday afternoon at Steubenville Country Club.

WEIR TOPS A QUAD

RAYLAND -- The Weir Red Riders improved to 9-2 as a unit with a fine outing at Bec-Wood Hills, finishing ahead of Buckeye Local, Oak Glen and Toronto.

Weir compiled a team score of 164, led by Guy Meneely's 37, good enough to earn match medalist honors. Jonny Horstman carded a 41, while Aiden Ferguson and Jacob Sharrow both shot 43's.

Buckeye Local topped out at 176 as a team, just one stroke behind Oak Glen's 177. The Panthers' top performer was Dugan Dobrovich while the Golden Bears' best outing came from Zach Jenkins. Both shot a 39.

Toronto shot 193 as a team. Hank Bodnar and Joey Westlake each carded a 46 for the Red Knights.
