WHEELING CENTRAL BLANKS WEIR

WHEELING -- The Maroon Knights made it three wins in a row, all by virtue of a shutout, to open the season thanks to a 6-0 victory against invading Weir Wednesday evening.

Central struck early in the first half when Junior JD Schoolcraft scored less than three minutes into the game.

Schoolcraft wasn't done. He scored twice more in the first half and, for good measure, added his fourth tally to cap the scoring in the second half.

Maddox Ochap also posted a pair of goals and had three assists. Cooper Crews also recorded an assist.

Weir falls to 0-1-2 on the season and travels to Parkersburg Catholic Saturday.

DOVER TOPS BROOKE, HARRISON

CADIZ - Dover claimed a triangular high school boys' golf match Wednesday at the par-36 Cadiz Country Club with a 160, which was 21 shots better than Brooke. Harrison Central was third at 182.

The Tornadoes' Gavin Vanhorn was the only player to shoot under 40, with his 39 earning medalist honors.

The Bruins were led by Colton Yensen with 42, while the Huskies' Cash Meadows carded a 44.

RED KNIGHTS TAME PANTHERS

CONNORVILLE -- The Toronto volleyball team earned a four-set win over Buckeye Local on the road on Tuesday night to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Red Knights were led by Addison Dobbs with 29 kills, 12 digs and two aces, Jayna Reeves with nine kills and 1o aces, Danielle Sutherin with 45 assists, an ace and three digs, Hakey Bidnar with 20 digs, an ace and an assist and Kylie Mitchell with six kills, an ace and two blocks.

The Red Knights take on Harrison Central on Saturday.

BEARS WIN BIG

MOUNDSVILLE - The Golden Bears received five goals from Bailey Watts, who also added an assist, while Kendall Krzys added a pair of goals and two assists and Camryn Richards made six saves on seven shots as Oak Glen rolled to a 7-1 win on the road at John Marshall.
