Big Red fired a team score of 331, which played third overall in the 10-team event held at Bronzwood Golf Club. Steubenville’s score was just 10 strokes behind event champion Brookfield and five behind runner-up Pymatuning Valley.
Big Red senior Andrew Matzorkis also finished on the podium, placing as the No. 3 individual out of 50 golfers competing. He shot a score of 77.
“It was a solid performance and valuable early-season tournament experience for our team,” Big Red head golf coach Joe Garay said.
Also from Big Red, Jaggar Rawson shot a score of 81, Noah Kokiko turned in an 86, Pat Jenkins an 87 and Joel Elliott carded a 103.
The third place finish puts Big Red’s duel record at 8-2. They will look to improve on that mark on Thursday when they host a 9-hole tri-match against Indian Creek and Morgan at Steubenville Country Club.
