Locals recognized on East District baseball lists

Big Red's AJ Borsch named D3 Player of the Year

Andrew Grimm RECOGNIZED — Big Red's AJ Borsch pitches during a game this season. He was named the East District Player of the Year in Division III by the OHSBCA.

The Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association All-East District baseball teams were recently released and several local players were among those recognized.

DIVISION III

Four local players were selected on the first team in Division III.

From Big Red, sophomore AJ Borsch and senior Matt Fabbro were first team picks, and Indian Creek had a pair of selections in seniors Sylus Hyde and Hunter Rusnak.

Creek senior Gavin Pownall and Big Red sophomore Royal Mayo were second team selections.

Big Red senior Cole Bowers was an honorable mention, making him an all-district selection in four sports this year. Creek sophomore Patker Heath was also an honorable mention.

Borsch was also recognized as the district Player of the Year in the division.

Indian Creek’s John Zeigler was selected as the Assistant Coach of the Year.

DIVISION IV

Edison had a trio of seniors selected on the first team in Nolan Haught, Kyle Long and Evan Kimmerle. Buckeye Local junior Daniel Divjak was also picked on the first team.

Edison senior Bryce Rogers was a second team selection, as was the Panthers’ Coop Baker, a sophomore.

Buckeye Local juniors Jordan Kovalski and Dugan Dobrovich were honorable mentions.

DIVISION V

Harrison Central has a pair of first team selections in junior Gage Stoneking and sophomore Lance Smith.

Huskies sophomore Kolton Mizer was a second team pick and Huskies freshman Colson Crothers was an honorable mention.

DIVISION VI

The Toronto baseball team has a pair of first teamers in senior Michael Henry and junior Drake Bouscher.

Senior Tanner Newbold and sophomore Max Rebich were second team picks.

DIVISION VII

A pair from Catholic Central were picked on the first team in senior Zach Bryan and sophomore Matthew Jones.

Junior Tommy Symington was a second team selection and freshman Jojo Corabi was an honorable mention pick.
