Local players recognized by OVAC

The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference announced the full all-conference lists on Friday and among those earning recognition were multiple players from the 11 local schools.

5A

In Class 5A, Steubenville Big Red had a trio of players on the first team and one on the second team, while Brooke had a first team and a second team selection.

For Big Red, AJ Borsch, Matthew Fabbro and Royal Mayo were first team selections, while Cole Bowers was a second team pick.

For the Bruins, Andrew Murdock, who was also the Class 5A Player of the Year, was a first team pick and Zac O’Mery was selected for the second team.

4A

In Class 4A, A trio from Indian Creek, two each from Edison and Harrison Central and one player each from Oak Glen and Buckeye Local were first team selections, while each school had a second team pick as well.

For Creek, Sylus Hyde, Hunter Rusnak and Gavin Pownall were first team selections while Parker Heath was a second team pick. For Edison, Nolan Haught and Kyle Long were first team picks and Brady Haught was a second team selection. For Harrison Central, Lance Smith and Gage Stoneking were picked on the first team and Kolton Mizer was a second team selection. Weir High’s Aleks Zanieski was a first team pick and Cayden Braswell was a second team selection. Oak Glen’s first team pick was Noah Willey while their second team selection was James Rohbeck. Buckeye Local was represented on the first team by Daniel Divjak while Dugan Dobrovich was a second team selection.

2A

In Class 2A, Toronto had a trio of first team selections and one second team pick while Catholic Central was represented on both teams by one player each.

For the Red Knights, Drake Bouscher, the conference Player of the Year in the classification, was joined by Michael Henry and Heath Thomas on the first team and Caden McGrath was a second team selection. For the Crusaders, Matthew Jones was a first team honoree and Zach Bryan got a second team nod.

1A

In Class A, Madonna had a pair of first team picks and a second team selection. The first team selections were Sam Brooks and Jacob Lazear and Reno Fuscardo was voted onto the second team.
