STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville Post 33 battled back from an early hole, but visiting Barnesville’s bats were too much to keep at bay as the visitors from Belmont County slugged their way to a 17-7 victory in a nine-inning contest.

Barnesville broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the top of the third inning and opened the lead to 7-1 in the fifth before Post 33 (0-3) rallied back with a five-run bottom of the fifth to pull within a run at 7-6.

The visitors, however, added three runs back to their lead in the seventh and tacked on seven runs in the top of the ninth to put things away and leave Fred Heatherington Field with a victory.

For Steubenville, Jonathan Wineman and Jace Wojtas each had two hits and an RBI, Rocco Nocera had a pair of hits, Kole Yourkovich doubled and drove in two runs and Kaiden Anderson and Chase Kuhn each had a hit and an RBI.

Post 33 used five pitchers in the game, Joseph Vranish starting and going 2 1/3 with three strikeouts, Chase Beall striking out three in the next 2 2/3, Nocera firing 1 2/3 with two punchouts, Wineman striking out three in 1 2/3 and Kuhn talked a strikeout in the final 2/3.
