Weir High’s season ends in regional

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The season came to an end for the Weir High baseball team on Monday.

The Red Riders fell to top seed, defending state champ Wheeling Central 11-0 in the Class AA Region 1 bracket final on Monday in St. Clairsville.

The Red Riders finish their season at 17-18. Wheeling Central advances to the state tournament after going 3-0 in the regional bracket.

Nick DiMatteis had a double for the Red Riders in the loss.

Brooke falls in regional

FAIRMONT – Brooke fell in the Class AAA Region 1 bracket final at high seed East Fairmont on Monday, 13-2.

The Bruins conclude their season at 16-19-1. East Fairmont advances to the state tournament.

Zac O’Mery had two hits for the Bruins, while Aiden Provenzano had a double and Andrew Murdock and Aiden Lathem each had an RBI.

Edison blanks Ferry in regular season finale

RICHMOND – The Edison baseball team played its last regular season game on Saturday between tournament rounds, blanking Martins Ferry 6-0.

Brady Haught had a double, single and four RBIs and struck out six in three innings on the mound while Evan Kimmerle and Santino Auteri each drove in a run.
