Catholic Central wins on the road
BRIDGEPORT — The Catholic Central baseball team earned their second win in their last three games, going on the road Monday and knocking off the Bridgeport Bulldogs 4-2.
The Crusaders (5-11) broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the sixth inning with three runs and were able to hang on from there.
Jojo Corabi had a double, single and an RBI, Luke Bryan had two hits and Zach Bryan had a base knock and an RBI.
Matty Jones fired 6 2/3 strong innings on the mound to earn the win, striking out five and walking three while allowing just one earned run. Joseph Vranish came on and got the last out with a strikeout for the save.
The Crusaders host Conotton Valley today.
Creek bounces back
MINGO JUNCTION — The Indian Creek baseball team put its OVAC loss in the rear view on Monday, blanking visiting St. Clairsville 2-0 at Muth Field.
The Redskins (17-3) got a key two-way performance from Parker Heath, as he fired a complete game shutout with five strikeouts on the mound and had a double and an RBI at the plate.
James Brothers also had an RBI double.
Creek is scheduled to visit Wheeling Central today.
Dons out-slug the Potters
WEIRTON — The Madonna baseball team racked up 20 runs on 16 hits in a 20-6 win over visiting East Liverpool at Bowman Field on Monday.
Connor Lancaster had a monster game for the Blue Dons, who moved back above .500 at 9-8. He homered, doubled, went 4 for 4 and drove in six runs in the win.
Reno Fuscardo, who was also the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts, went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and three RBIs.
Tyler Dillon and Sam Brooks each doubled and drove in two runs.
Madonna visits Toronto today.
Oak Glen blanks Bellaire
NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen baseball team got the bats going in a 15-0 win over Bellaire on Monday.
Christian Chappell had a triple, double, single and five RBIs to lead the Golden Bears (9-17), while Josh Maher had a double, single and two RBIs and Sam Jenkins drove in a run.
James Rohbeck struck out eight and did not walk a batter in the shutout.
Oak Glen hosts Williamstown on Wednesday.
SOFTBALL
Creek tops Central
WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek’s softball team snapped its losing streak on Monday, exploding offensively with a 20-4 win over visiting Catholic Central.
Aliyah Duke had three hits and two RBIs, Riley Sadler had a triple, two singles and three RBIs, Gracie Hollenbeck had a double, single and an RBI and Khila Chamberlain homered.
Mia Doyle had a triple, single and two RBIs for Central while Gracie Fink had two hits and Maddie McEndree had two RBIs.
The team rematch on Wednesday at Central, Creek taking on Weir High today in the meantime.
Huskies blank Linsly
CADIZ — The Harrison Central softball team got a complete game shutout with nine punchouts in the circle from Mikayla Pelegreen, who also tripled and drove in two runs to lead the Huskies to a 4-0 win over visiting Linsly on Monday.
The Huskies (16-8) also got a double, single and an RBI from Kam Crothers and a double from Delaney Stull.
It was the last regular season game for the Huskies.
