Barton leads Red Riders at WV National Guard Invite

FAIRMONT – Loganne Barton had a monster day for the Weir High softball team Saturday to lead the Red Riders to a pair of victories at the WV National Guard Invite at East Fairmont on Saturday.

Barton, in a 15-1 win over Grafton and a 6-3 win over North Marion, combined for two home runs, three doubles and eight RBIs on the day.

Eliza Utt was the winning pitcher in both games, striking out nine batters in each game while tossing two complete games. She also combined for a double, two singles and two RBIs at the plate.

Bella Weber had four singles and four RBIs on the day and Illiona Kirlangitis tallied three RBIs.

The Red Riders, now 16-7, will take on Edison in the OVAC Class 4A tournament Tuesday at the I-470 Complex.
