No. 1 Indian Creek tops Huskies again to stay undefeated

CADIZ — For the second time in three days, the state ranked Indian Creek and Harrison Central baseball teams did battle.

And, for the second time, it was Indian Creek emerging victorious.

The Redskins scored three runs in the top of the first inning and did not look back, plating the first runs on the way to a 5-1 victory at Mazeroski Field.

Creek, the No. 1 ranked team in Ohio Division III by the Ohio Baseball Coaches Association Poll, improves to 11-0 on the season with the season sweep of the Huskies (9-3), ranked No. 4 in Division V.

Hunter Rusnak had a double, single and two RBIs, James Brothers tallied three hits, Luke McVicker doubled, singled and drove in a run and Logan Wedlake plated a run as well.

On the mound, Parker Heath fired a complete game, striking out five without issuing a walk.

For the Huskies, Cash Meadows had a pair of hits, Hunter Snyder had an RBI and Kolton Mizer had a double.

Creek is back in action on Monday at Edison, while the Huskies were slated for a doubleheader against Bellaire Saturday before hosting St. Clairsville on Monday.

RICHMOND — The Edison baseball team battled back from down three runs late in the game Friday to win a thriller, 5-4, over visiting Minerva.

After falling behind 4-1 in the top of the fifth, the Wildcats (8-2) plated three runs in the bottom half to tie the game and then added the winning run in the sixth, holding off the Lions from there.

Brady Haught had a double, single and three RBIs, Kyle Long had two hits and an RBI, Kayden Russell drove in a run and Nolan Haught had a double.

On the mound, Bryce Rogers struck out 11 in 4 2/3 innings and Long earned the win in relief, going the final 2 1/3 scoreless.
