Toronto tops Bridgeport
TORONTO – The Toronto softball team scored firs and used a big inning to pull away to an 8-3 win over Bridgeport at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Knights plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on another an inning later to take a 3-0 lead. After the Bulldogs plated the next three runs to knot the score, Toronto had a five-run bottom of the fourth take the lead for good.
Lily Sapp had three hits for the Red Knights, while Anna Wright homered and, Jaylee Brown tripled and drove in three runs and Arianna Highsmith plated a pair of runs.
Maddie Asafailo struck out seven and walked three in a complete game effort in the circle.
Toronto, now 5-3 on the season, hosts St. Clairsville on Tuesday.
