Huskies, Bruins split a twinbill
WELLSBURG — Brooke and Harrison Central split a twinbill on Wednesday, the Bruins edging out a 3-2 win in the opener and the Huskies bouncing back in a big way in the night cap, 14-1.
In the first game, Brooke (10-17-1) got a pair of hits and two RBIs from Andrew Murdock, while Ty Sperringer also had two huts and Aiden Lathem drove in a run.
Tyson Klick fired six strong innings on the mound, striking out two, while Zac O’Mery struck out the side in the seventh for a save.
The Huskies (12-7) got two hits from Hunter Snyder and Lance Smith, Smith hitting a triple, and an RBI each from Cash Meadows and Brady McAfee. Snyder struck out five in a complete game on the mound.
In Game 2, Snyder tripled and had three RBIs, Gage Stoneking tallied a double, single and two RBIs, Kolton Mizer had a double and a single, while Colten Rutter, Meadows and McAfee had an RBI each.
Stoneking struck out three and walked three in four innings for the win.
Brooke got a double and single and an RBI from Rylan Figgs.
The Bruins visit Big Red today, while the Huskies take on Catholic Central on Saturday.
