Toronto wins high-scoring game

TORONTO — The Toronto softball team won a high-scoring contest of Friday to improve to 3-1 on the season.

The Red Knights topped visiting Wellsville 19-9 at home. In their three wins, the Red Knights have scored at least 10 runs in all three.

JJ Rebich had a double, triple, finished 4 for 4 and had four RBIs for the Red Knights, while Jaylee Brown had a double, triple, single and also drove in four runs. Arianna Highsmith tallied two doubles and three RBIs for the Knights while Lily Sapp and Vivian Gump each drove in two runs and had multi-hit games.

Gump was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts in five innings.

Toronto was slated to host Southern on Saturday before a trip to Linsly on Monday.

BASEBALL

Madonna improves to 2-0

SALINEVILLE — The Madonna baseball team made it two road wins in as many outing to start the season, topping Southern Local on the road Friday 13-2 in six innings.

Jacob Lazear had two doubles, a single and drove in two runs, while Maddox Bowen tallied a pair of RBIs and Sam Brooks had three hits and an RBI and Camden Michael drove in two runs.

Reno Fuscardo has a strong game on the mound, striking out 10 batters with no walks in 5 1/3 innings.

The Dons were slated for a trip to Monroe Central on Saturday before hosting Magnolia Monday in their home opener.

Oak Glen wins on a walk-ff

NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen baseball team walked-it-off for a 3-2 victory over Shadyside on Friday.

The Golden Bears earned their first win of the season on G Cline’s walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seven to break a 2-2 tie.

C Dittman had a double, single and two RBIs for the Bears.

Oak Glen was set for a twinbill with Tyler on Saturday before a trip to Kendall on Monday.
