Madonna improves to 4-0

WEIRTON — The strong start to the season continues for the Madonna softball team.

The Blue Dons made it a 4-0 start to the spring, doubling up Cameron at home on Wednesday, 10-5, for their second win in as many days.

Madi Owens had a double, single and two RBIs, Elaine Foresha had a double, single and an RBI and Riley and Breea Birkhimer each tallied a pair of RBIs in the win over the Dragons.

All told, seven different players had a hit and six different players drove in a run for the Blue Dons.

In the circle, sophomore Peyton Conley tallied seven strikeouts against two walks in a complete game effort. Just three of the runs were earned.

The Blue Dons are back in action today at Bridgeport.

Harrison blanks Creek after winning resumed game

CADIZ — After finishing off a 16-1 win in a resumption of Monday’s postponed finish, the Harrison Central softball team topped Indian Creek 8-0 in their regularly scheduled contest in Cadiz Wednesday.

Lillian Thomas had four hits, including a triple and an RBI, for the Huskies, while Jaylin Ward had a double, single and three RBIs and Kara Blackburn drove in a run with a triple.

Mikalyla Pelegreen went 6 2/3 strong innings in the circle, striking out nine without a walk. M Johnson closed things out with a strikeout.

Olivia Hollenbeck had a double for Indian Creek (2-3).

BASEBALL

Madonna wins opener

MORGANTOWN — The Madonna baseball team opened its season with a victory on the road on Wednesday night, topping Morgantown Trinity Christian 10-6.

Jacob Lazear had a monster game in the win, hitting a homer, two doubles and a single and driving in four runs while also striking out eight batters on the mound in tossing the first three innings.

Reno Fuscardo had two hits and an RBI and Brennan Gray and Sam Brooks each doubled.
