Creek girls track team tops home event

WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek opened its track and field season in style on Saturday while recognizing a decorated alumni.

The girls track team for Creek topped a field of 12 teams on the Lester Carney Track, and Carney himself, a Wintersville High School graduate and former U.S Olympian, made an appearance for the occasion.

Creek’s girls team had a trio individual event winners in Dalana Bove (300 hurdles), Gracie Klinesmith (long jump) and Trinity Greene (200 dash) and a winning relay team — Bove, Greene, Nyrobie Harmon and Klinesmith — in the 4×200.

Klinesmith also reached the podium in the 400 sprint, finishing second, and the 4×100 relay team of Sophia Randazzo, Aubrionna Jones, Janiyah Dodds and Harmon was third in the event to reach the podium.

Creek’s boys placed eighth overall, led by the 4×800 unit of Caleb Graves, Brayden Taylor, Sam Doerr and Andrew Graves, which placed second. George Zedanski also podiumed in the discus, placing third.

“We are a very young team and went against some of the best competition the area has to offer,” Indian Creek track coach Jayson Daugherty said. “The future is bright and I am grateful to be coaching such a great group of kids. We have two great seniors in George (Zadaski) and Adam (Graves), the younger kids look up to them and they help them anyway they can.”

Also locally, Oak Glen placed third on the girls side and the boys side, Brooke was fifth on the boys side and ninth on the girls side and Buckeye Local placed 10th on the girls side and 11th in the boys scoring.

For the Golden Bears, Logan Murray won the long jump, Emma Francis was second in the shot put and discus, the 4×800 team of Amelia Kampmeyer Charlee Fischer Khloe Wright Lacey Cameron was second, Logan Murray was second in the 110 hurdles and won the 300 hurdles, Charlie Oliver was second in the 100 and won the 200, the 4×200 team of Emma Everett Addyson Wells sophia Mascio Samantha Wilson was second, the 4×200 team of Charlie Oliver Cayden Richie Chance Ripley Mason kell won the event, Lacey Cameron topped the 1600, Amelia Kampeyer wit the 800, the 4×400 team of Addyson Wells Samantha Wilson Khloe Wright Amelia Kampmeyer won the event and the 4×100 team of Charlie Oliver Mason kell Chance Ripley Logan Murray was second.

For Brooke, Sophia Sacripanti was third in the long jump, Jude Blake won the shot put, Marcus Reed won the discus, the 4×800 team of Lydia Prager Layla Michael Amelia Myers Elizabeth Edgell was third, the 4×200 team of Caden Knisley Luca Provenzano Leland Aracich Ethan Fisher was second, Gavin Scott was second in the 800, Elizabeth Edgell won the 3200, the 4×400 relay team of Alexander Obeldobel Caden Knisley Gavin Scott William Harvey was third,

Buckeye Local’s Jenna Delvecchio won the 100 hurdles.
