Big Red places fourth overall, qualifies four in Division II
GALLIA — Steubenville Big Red’s wrestling team had a solid day at the Division II District Tournament at Gallia Academy on Saturday.
Big Red placed fourth overall as a team and is sending four wrestlers to next week’s state tournament.
Landon Crosier led the way by winning the district title at 175 pounds.
Also finishing in the top four to earn a trip to Columbus were Cooper Smith, who was the runner up at 144 pounds; Beau Hudson, the runner up at heavyweight (285 pounds); and Cole Harvey, who won the third-place match at 120 pounds.
Also earning a spot in the state tournament from a local team was Indian Creek’s Luke McMillian, who won the third place match in the heavyweight division.
Big Red’s Colt Gamble (215 pounds) won a fifth-place match to be a state alternate.
Indian Creek placed 22nd overall as a team and Edison was 23rd.

Big Red qualifies two for state
MENTOR –The Big Red girls wretling team finished in the top 10 of the East/Northeast District tournament at Mentor on Saturday and is sending a pair to the state tournament.
Steubenville placed ninth overall as a team, led by defending state champ Talea Guntrum, who won the district title in the 135 pound division.
Also qualifying was Jahmiah Bey, who was fourth at 100 pounds.
Edison was 38th overall out of 102 teams and has a state alternate in Zenfira Spencer, fifth at 120.
