Creek back in win column

WINTERSVILLE — Kaydence Walker recorded a game-high 27 points enabling the Indian Creek girls’ basketball team to get back on track with a 54-15 victory against Buckeye Local via mercy rule in a varsity-only game Saturday afternoon at home on Coach D Court.

Gabby Taylor tallied 11 points in the win for the Redskins (7-1).

Charity Stewart collected a team-high seven points for the Panthers (0-7).

The win enabled Indian Creek to sweep the season series from its Jefferson County and Buckeye 8 foe.

Indian Creek is scheduled to play Beaver Local Monday on the road. The Redskins defeated the Beavers, 61-20, Dec. 4 at home.

Buckeye Local is slated to play Brooke Monday at home on Kara Bright Court. The Bruins defeated the Panthers, 50-39, Dec. 4 at home inside the Brooke Wellness Center.

Madonna falls at Magnolia

NEW MARTINSVILLE — The Madonna girls basketball team dropped a 62-30 decision on Saturday at Magnolia.

The Blue Dons were led by eight points each from Sophie Brady and Rylee Birkhimer.

Madonna takes on Catholic Central at home on Saturday.

Red Knights fall in Flordia

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Toronto boys basketball team gave Columbine (Colorado), a Division I school by OHSAA standards, all it could handle but came up just short in the KSA Events Holiday Tournaments in Orlando, falling 50-47.

Austin Buchanon led the Red Knights with 17 points, while Colt Joynson tallied 11 points.

Panthers get first win

CONNORVILLE — The Buckeye Local boys basketball team is in the win column.

After dropping the first five games, the Panthers got first year coach Stevie Roberts his first victory Friday night at home, 73-63 over visiting Edison.

Buckeye Local finished with four players in double figures as Matt Morris netted 15, Grant Dombroski tallied 14, while Jusante Wright and Kyle Kirkland each netted 10.

For Edison, now 3-3, Timmy DeGarmo netted 18, Bryce Rogers 16 and Kyle Long 14.
