Edison girls, two from CCHS advance to state XC meet
PICKERINGTON — The regional cross country meets were held Saturday, with local schools competing across three divisions at the Pickerington regionals.
In Division III, the Edison girls team placed eighth in team scoring to earn a trip to the state championship meet next week at Fortress Obetz.
Leading the Wildcats was Josie Lesnansky, who placed 18th overall and set a personal best in 19:44.61. Also on the qualifying team were Lydia Krepps, Leila Cable, Hallie Westbrook, Maya Filburn, Annie Board and Paige Somerville.
On the boys side, Edison’s top finisher was Evan Westfall in 89th and Blaine Hoobler was 98th. The Wildcats finished 21st in team scoring.
Indian Creek’s Calista Cozart placed 156th out of a field of nearly 300 in Division III.
In Division IV, Catholic Central had an individual qualifier on both the boys and girls sides. Central’s Cash Dobson placed 24th overall in 17:15.30, and was one of the top 16 finishers on a non-qualifying team to earn a trip to states.
On the girls side, Claire Flannery was 32nd overall in 21:03.38, and also was in position to earn an individual spot in the state meet. Mary Rohde also had a strong run, placing 42nd.
In Division II, Big Red’s Jude Kimble was 98th in the boys event and Gena Smith placed 106th overall out of a field of nearly 200 runners.
The state meet will be held next Saturday.

Brooke’s run ends
FAIRMONT — The Brooke girls soccer team’s season came to an end on Saturday morning with a 7-0 loss to top-ranked East Fairmont in the Class AAA Region 1 semifinals.
Brooke finishes its season 10-9-2.
East Fairmont, the defending state champion, advances to the regional final Tuesday.
Weir to play Monday
WILLIAMSTOWN — The Weir High boys soccer team’s Class A/AA Region 1 semifinal at Williamstown scheduled for Saturday was moved to Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Oak Glen wins two
NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen volleyball team ended its regular season with a pair of victories in a tri-match on Saturday.
the Golden Bears topped Wheeling Central in two sets then defeated Charleston Catholic in three.
On the day, Averi Martin combined for 18 kills, Brooklyn Six tallied 20 kills, Brayley Lash tallied seven kills and Mikalyn Balch recorded 49 assists and 11 digs.
Oak Glen finishes the regular season 23-10-3 and will host a regional match on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
