Weir High blanks Oak Glen to advance in tournament
WEIRTON — The Weir High boys soccer team topped rival Oak Glen 5-0 on Tuesday evening in the opening round of the Class A/AA Region 1 tournament.
The Red Riders moved to 10-9 on the season and advance to the regional semifinals.
Weir, the No. 3 seed in the bracket, will advance to take on the winner of today’s game between No. 2 seed Williamstown and No. 7 seed Ravenswood on Saturday.
Oak Glen, which was the No. 6 seed, ends its season with a mark of 7-10-4.
Brooke falls on road
FAIRMONT — The Brooke boys soccer team’s season ended with a 10-0 loss on the road at Fairmont Senior Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the Class AAA Region 1 tournament.

Oak Glen splits tri
WHEELING — The Oak Glen volleyball team split a tri match on Tuesday night, falling to Morgantown but bouncing back to top Wheeling Park.
Brooklyn Six had a combined nine kills between the two matches, while Mikalyn Balch had 28 assists, Haylee Stewart had eight kills, Brayley Lash tallied eight kills and Averi Martin had 10 kills.
The Golden Bears are now 21-10-3.
