Toronto wins to remain undefeated
TORONTO — The Red Knights are off to a 4-0 start.
Toronto scored the first 26 points of the game Friday night against visiting Newcomerstown and then held off the visitors for a 26-16 win at Clarke Hinkle Stadium.
The Red Knights got 125 yards on 18 carries from Drake Bouscher, 74 yards and a pair of scores on 10 carries from Caden McGrath and a rushing score each from Brady Fair and Michael Henry in racking up 267 yards on the ground. Henry was also 6 of 7 passing for another 33 yards, putting Toronto at 300 yards of total offense on the night. McGrath’s scores covered 2 and 25 yards, while Fair’s was from 32 yards out and Henry scored from the 2.
Toronto travels to Oak Glen next Friday in a battle of unbeatens.
Brooke gets in win column
CAMBRIDGE — Brooke got in the win column on Friday night at Cambridge with a 24-14 and gave Frank Sisinni his first victory at his alma mater.
“It was really important for us to get our first win,” Sisinni said. “And in the fashion we did it. To come from behind and win this game in the second half was something we all needed within this football team. Our players and coaches did a tremendous job with our halftime adjustments. And we came out in the second half and played solid in all three phases to help us get this big first win of the season.” Brooke got a TD catch from Crosby Morris on a pass from Ty Sperringer, while Connor Carte ran for a TD, Marcus Reed ran for a score and Rocco Sacrapanti kicked a field goal. Brooke travels to Indian Creek next week.
Oak Glen stays undefeated
NEW MANCHESTER — Maddox Bowen threw four touchdown passes as the Golden Bears (3-0) remained unbeaten with a romp past the Belpre Golden Eagles. Two of his TD tosses went to Logan Murray who had 52 yards on his two catches.
He also ran for 64 yards and a third TD.
Oak Glen hosts Toronto Friday in a meeting of the unbeaten.
Huskies fall at Union Local
CADIZ — Brody Perzanowski ran for 221 yards and scored touchdowns on runs of 31 and 36 yards as the Jets (2-2) snapped a two-game losing streak with their win at Wagner Field.
Colby Carpenter and Kolten Snyder had rushing TDs for the Jets. Gavin Fowkes kicked four PATs. Noah Thaxton gave Harrison Central (0-4) a 3-0 lead with a 32-yard field goal. Beau Rinkes ran for 45 yards for the Huskies.
Union Local welcomes Warren Local to Morristown next Friday. Harrison Central hosts North.
Buckeye falls at Barnesville
BARNESVILLE — The streak continues. Barnesville won for the 40th consecutive time during the regular season with a 56-0 shellacking of visiting Buckeye Local at Shamrock Stadium.
The winning streak is the third longest in Ohio Valley history behind Sistersville (42) and Steubenville (68). Trey Toliver had touchdown runs of 3, 57 and 18 yards while Cole Francis connected with Joel Detling on a 20-yard TD pass and found Phoenix Graham from 34. Hines Ford scored from 12 yards out and Blake Messenger ran in from 43. Evan Wells capped the scorefest with a 28-yard scamper. Luis Garcia booted eight PATs.
The Shamrocks are now 7-0 all-time against the Panthers. Barnesville visits Monroe Central next Friday. Buckeye Local entertains Carrick (Pa.) on Friday.
