ROUNDUP: Edison bounces back in a big way with 41-8 win at Southern Local

SALINEVILLE — The Edison football team bounced back in a big way on Friday night.
The Wildcats went on the road to Southern Local and put together a strong performance for a 41-8 victory, improving their season mark to 2-1.
Quarterback JD Henderson accounted for three touchdowns, throwing for a score and 94 yards while rushing for another 60 yards and a pair of scores.
Brett Hellyer racked up 106 yards on 13 carries and found the end zone twice as the Wildcats racked up 271 yards and four TDs on the ground as a team.
Henderson’s TD pass went to Skyler Willoughby, who led Edison with four catches for 46 yards. K McAllister also had a defensive score for the Wildcats in the victory.
Edison is back in action next week at Martins Ferry.
Oak Glen wins big in home opener
NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen football team is off to a 2-0 start to its season.
After a strong Week 1 performance on the road at Weir, the Golden Bears rolled to a 53-18 victory over visiting St. Marys Friday night in their home opener.
It was the Logan Murray show as he ran for 155 yards and a score on 14 carries, hauled in three passes for 77 yards and another TD and returned a kick off 77 yards for another touchdown in the victory, accounting for 299 all-purpose yards.
Cayden Richie had 94 yards and two scores, Maddox Bowen ran for 33 yards and a score, while Jaxon Deremer and Josh Maher also hauled in TD receptions.
Bowen went 7 of 14 passing for 141 yards, three TDs and two picks.
Oak Glen racked up 467 yards of offense in the win.
The Golden Bears are home again next week hosting Belpre.
Toronto wins big at Wellsville
WELLSVILLE — The Toronto Red Knights are rolling to start the season.
Toronto improved its early season mark to 3-0 with a 49-19 victory on the road at Wellsville on Friday night.
The Red Knights went up 30-0 in the first quarter and led 43-7 at halftime on the way to the victory.
Toronto returns home next week to host Newcomerstown.
Brooke falls at home
WELLSBURG — The Brooke football team ran into a stout Linsly team on Friday night, falling 42-0 at Brooke Memorial Stadium.
The Bruins, now 0-2, travel to Cambridge next Friday.
Huskies fall at Malvern
MALVERN — Harrison Central had the lead at one point early in the second half in seeking its first win of the season Friday night at Malvern but came up short 34-15.
The Huskies led 15-14 early in the third quarter, but the Hornets scored the final 20-unanswered points to take the victory.
Harrison Central hosts Union Local next Friday.
