Big Red golf wins two on senior day, runs win streak to 16
STEUBENVILLE — The Big Red golf team is rolling along to another fine season.
Steubenville, competing on senior day Monday, added two more to its current win streak, topping Harrison Central and Indian Creek at Steubenville Country Club.
Big Red has now won 16-straight matches and not lost since opening day as it improved to 16-1.
Big Red shot a 172, 14 strokes better than the Huskies and 23 better than the Redskins.
Senior Christopher Elliott led the way, shooting a low score of the day 40 to earn match medalist.
“He’s the perfect example of what senior leadership means,” Big Red head coach Scott Lane said of Elliott.
Aksi for Big Red, Andrew Matkzorkis carded a 41, Jaggar Rawson a 43 and Noah Kokiko and Gino Scaffidi each turned in a 48.
For the Huskies, Kash Meadows had a 41, Jax Triplett shot a 45, Logan Johnson and Andy Henderson each turned in 50s.
For Creek, Tre Feist-Winland shot a 41, Logan Wedlake had a 48, Riley Guskea had a 51 and Zeke Roe a 52.

Edison tops Creek
RICHMOND — The Edison boys soccer team defeated visiting Indian Creek on Monday, 9-2.
Carmine DiEugenio had three goals, while Gageg Hennis and Noah Lucas each tallied two goals and Beckett Dopp and Xander Haught each had one.
Edison hosts Linsly on Thursday.

Cross Country
Edison wins event
EAST PALESTINE — The Edison cross country team topped both the boys and girls team scores at the East Palestine Rotary Invite on Saturday.
The girls were led by Josie Lesnansky, who won the event. The Wildcats had five finishers in the top 10 overall, Lydia Krepps placing sixth, Maya Filburn seventh, Hallie Westbrook eighth and Annie Board 10th.
Also locally, Catholic Central’s Claire Flannery was third overall, while Oak Glen’s Lacey Cameron was fourth and Amelia Kampmeyer was ninth.
On the boys side, Edison had four in the top 10 as Liam Westfall placed fourth, Blaine Hoobler was fifth, Brock Koehnline was sixth and Jayden Science ninth.
Central’s Cash Dobson paced the field on the boys side, while the Crusaders’ Joe Owen placed eighth.
