Football Roundup: Buckeye Local rallies from 22 down to beat Carrick, 36-30

CONNORVILLE — Trailing by three scores late in the second half, Buckeye Local was facing a big challenge as it looked to avoid a second-straight loss.

The Panthers were up to the challenge.

Buckeye Local stormed back by scoring the game’s final 28 unanswered points for a 36-30 comeback win over visiting Pittsburgh Carrick Friday night at World War II Memorial Stadium.

The Panthers trailed 30-8 early in the third quarter before the big rally. They improve to 2-3 on the season.

Xavier Eastham rushed for a pair of TDs in the win, while Chase Worwa and Grant Dombroski each ran for a score and Daniel Divjak hauled in a scoring pass from Dombroski.

Buckeye Local will host 3-1 Oak Glen next Friday night.

Huskies get first victory

CADIZ — Harrison Central is in the win column.

The Huskies picked up their first victory of the season Friday night in dominant fashion, pulling away for a 41-8 win over visiting Akron North.

Both teams are now 1-4.

The Huskies used a balanced attack, rushing for more than 180 yards and passing for another 140.

Quarterback Brady Hyre ran for three scores in the win while passing for an additional TD. His touchdown toss went to Colson Crothers.

Kingston Smith and Olin Wade each ran for a score.

The Huskies are back at home next Friday to host Weir High (0-3).

Edison falls at Caldwell, 27-10

CALDWELL — The Edison football team suffered a 27-10 setback on the road at Caldwell on Friday night.

Both teams are now 3-2 on the season.

The Wildcats return home for a Thursday night against undefeated rival Toronto.
