Big Red golf team tops Toronto for seventh-straight win

STEUBENVILLE — The Big Red golf team picked up another victory on Thursday, topping Toronto by 30 strokes at Steubenville Country Club, 167-197.

The victory is Big Red’s seventh-straight to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Christopher Elliott led the way with a low score on the day of 38, while Jaggar Rawson shot a 41, Andrew Matzorkis turned in a 42 and Gino Scaffidi fired a 46.

For the Red Knights, Hank Bodnar shot a 43, Joey Westlake a 48, Terry Dear a 50 and Steven Ohalek a 56.

Red Riders top a tri

WELLSBURG — The Weir High golf team picked up a pair of wins in an 18-hole tri Thursday at Highland Spring to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Weir High turned in a 322, 10 strokes better than Brooke. Oak Glen was third at 395.

Leading the Red Riders was Isaiah Smith with a 76, Evan Baker shot an 81, Guy Meneely an 82 and Evan Kaczmarek fired an 83.

Brooke got a 78 from Parker McMahon, an 83 from Dustin Engle, an 84 from Colton Yensen and an 87 from Max Malinky.

For Oak Glen, Zach Jenkins shot 91, Gannon Cline had a 99, Marleah Lough shot 100 and Jack Cline a 105.

Weir hosts Toronto, Beaver Local and Madonna Monday at Woodview.
