Big Red golf team sweeps an 18-hole tri-match
CADIZ — The Big Red golf team made it a successful early season trip out U.S. Route 22 on Wednesday.
Big Red went out to Cadiz Country Club to compete in an 18-hole tri-match and returned with a sweep of the day, edging West Muskingum by 10 strokes and the host Harrison Central Huskies by 60.
Big Red’s score of 332 was led by a medalist effort from Christopher Elliott with a score of 76, while Jaggar Rawson fired an 81, Andrew Matzorkis shot an 83 and Noah Kokiko shot a 92.
For the Huskies, Cash Meadows fired an 81, Jax Triplett a 98, Logan Johnson a 106 and Andy Hendershot shot a 107.
Big Red improves to 4-1 on the season with the pair of victories.
Edison boys, girls sweep Park
WHEELING — The Edison boys and girls golf teams each picked road wins over Wheeling Park on Wednesday.
The girls edged the Patriots with a narrow 200-204 margin.
Kallie McKeegan shot a 42 to lead the way, while Bella Evans shot a 52 and Made Cornell and Teegan Reynolds each fired a 53.
The girls host a tri on Monday against Beaver Local and Claymont.
On the boys side of the things, it was also a narrow victory for the Wildcats as they eked out a 165-168 win.
Luke Feralli led the way with a low score of 37, while Isaiah Filburn shot a 42 and Brody Haught and Jon Witlatch each turned in scores of 43.
The boys play in a quad against Big Red, Catholic Central and Indian Creek on Monday.
That match will take place at the Steubenville Country Club.
