Hyde fires no hitter to help Indian Creek blank Edison

RICHMOND — Sylus Hyde fired a no-hitter on Wednesday, striking out nine batters to lead Indian Creek to a 9-0 win on the road at Edison Wednesday.

Ty Householder had a homer, a double and two RBIs for the now 12-2 Redskins, while Sal Barcalow also drove in two runs, Gavin Pownall had two hits and Caleb Bodo, Hunter Rusnak and Ian Starkey each drove in a run.

After going up 1-0 in the top of the first, Creek plated five runs in the top of the second to pull away, adding three more in the fifth.

The teams will meet again on May 13.

Creek is slated to host Big Red today at Muth Field, while the Wildcats (11-4) are slated to host Minerva on Friday.

Huskies top Big Red

STEUBENVILLE — The Harrison Central baseball team used a big fourth inning to take a 9-3 victory over Big Red at the Crimson Complex on Wednesday, avenging an early season loss at home to Steubenville.

After each team plated a run in the third inning, the Huskies (11-5) plated five runs in the top of the fourth to pull away.

They also scored three in the sixth after Big Red (7-9) had got a run each in the fourth and fifth to pull within three.

For the Huskies, Tucker Snyder tripled, Gage Stoneking had a double and two singles, Hunter Snyder had three singles and Anthony Pelegreen had two hits.

For Big Red, Royal Mayo had a double and a single and Myles Cooper had a pair of base knocks.

Harrison Central is at Martins Ferry Friday, while Big Red travels to Indian Creek today.

SOFTBALL

Panthers pull away from Central

CONNORVILLE — The Buckeye Local softball team used a big first inning to roll to a 14-1 victory over visiting Catholic Central on Monday.

The Panthers plated nine runs in the bottom of the first and did not look back.

Frankie Sawko had a double and an RBI, Missy Smith drove in two runs and Haily Kovalski struck out five and did not walk a batter for the Panthers (12-9)

Lexus Lathem and Gianna Lemal each had a base hit for Central (4-9), while Lathem struck out five batters in three innings.

The Panthers host Martins Ferry on Monday, while Central hosts Madonna on Friday.
