Baseball tourney begins in W.Va, pairing set in Ohio
With softball tournament action well underway in West Virginia and set to begin today in Ohio, it is now also time for baseball teams to begin their quests for postseason glory.
The tournament begins today and Tuesday for baseball teams on the West Virginia side of the river.
This year, things look a little different on both sides of the river.
Unlike year’s past, the WVSSAC is using a four-class super regional format, without having sectional championships.
Each of the four regions in the four classes has two brackets, with the winners of each double-elimination bracket meeting in a best-of-three series for the regional title and trip to the state tournament.
In Ohio, this is the first spring the OHSAA is using a seven divisiion system, similar to that used for basketball this year.
The pairings in the Buckeye State were set on Sunday.
