Indian Creek softball bounces back to top Edison
WINTERSVILLE — After a disappointing opening day loss Monday, the Indian Creek softball team did not waste any time in bouncing right back.
Creek used a big fourth inning to earn its first victory of the season, 8-6, over rival Edison at home on Tuesday evening.
Trailing 3-1 going to the bottom of the fourth, Creek got the bats going to plate six runs to take to the lead and fended off the Wildcats, who suffered their first defeat of the season in three outings.
For Creek, Rylee Sadler had a double, single and two RBIs, while Aziah Ade also drove in two runs, while McKenna Scott tripled and Payton Rath doubled and drove in a run.
Scott went the distance in the circle for the Creek, striking out five in earning the win.
For Edison, Alivia Hanlin drove in two runs with two hits, while Alli Shrieve homered and singled and Chloe Peckens and Gracie Dray each doubled.
Oak Glen falls to Park
NEW MANCHESTER — Wheeling Park got a little revenge on Oak Glen in softball action, topping the Golden Baears 14-6 at Oak Glen to avenge an opening day loss in Wheeling.
for Oak Glen, now 2-2, Danica Holden tripled, singled and had teo RBIs, while Riley Bruce had a pair of base knocks and an RBI.
Weir High wins at home
WEIRTON — The Red Riders softball team made it wins on back-to-back days to start their season, topping Charleroi 10-2 in their home opener.
Rayna Hoover led the offense for Weir High, driving in four runs, three of the RBIs coming on a fourth-inning three-run homer. Kylie Dean had a double, single and two RBIs, while Loganne Barton also drove in two runs with two singles and Eliza Utt also doubled.
Utt fanned seven in six innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits to earn the win in the circle.

Madonna blanks Magnolia
WEIRTON — The Madonna baseball team got off to a fast start and did not look back in taking down Magnolia 10-0 at home at Bowman Field on Tuesday.
The Dons, now 2-1, plated six runs in the bottom of the first inning and were in control from there, while two Madonna pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout.
David Connors went five innings, fanning 11 and walking just one, earning the win.
At the plate, he a had a double, single and three RBIs. Kaiden Wells plated a pair of runs, while Reno Fuscardo also doubled.
JCC tops Hundred
CADIZ — Jefferson County Christian’s baseball team cruised to a 22-3 victory against Hundred on Tuesday
Wyatt Hervey struck out six and gave up one hit while blanking the Hornets in hi four innings of work.
Hervey, Carl Bonecutter, Aiden Howard and Lee Gump each homered for the Royals in the win.
