BLACKSVILLE — The Madonna volleyball team’s impressive showing in the tournment continues.

After winning both of its games in the Section 1 tournament on Monday, including upsetting the top seed, the Blue Dons went back on the second day of the tournament at Clay-Battelle and defeated Clakrsburg Notre Dame in four sets in the sectional semifinal to earn a spot in the sectional title match today.

The Blue Dons won by scores of 25-21, 25-18, 16-25, 25-19.

Madonna, now 13-11-1 on the season, will take on Trinity Christian today in the championship.

The top-seeded Warriors, who Madonna bested in five sets on Monday, topped Notre Dame in the second match of the night to reach the final.

Leading Madonna Tuesday were Sophie Brady with 10 aces, 39 assists and six digs, Rylee Birkhimer with an ace, five digs and 18 kills, Geena Birkhimer with two blocks, two digs and three kills and Madi Owens with four aces, a block, 14 digs and 15 kills.

The sectional title match is set to be played at 6 p.m. today at Clay-Battelle High School.
