WINTERSVILLE -- The Indian Creek football team had a reason to celebrate Friday night against Weir.
The Redskins scored touchdowns the first eight times they had the ball en route to a 52-7 victory against the Red Riders on homecoming Friday night at Kettlewell Stadium.
"That's effective," Indian Creek (3-1) head coach Andrew Connor said about his team's first eight possessions resulting in touchdowns. "The kids played well. We had a good week of practice. We learned a lot last week. We don't give up.
"We wanted to come out and make a statement. We learned from last week. We had not played a complete game yet, but I thought this was was our first complete game of the season. We played well on offense and defense."
The hosts scored the first 52 points of the game.
"We had an opportunity to get a stop on their first drive of the game, but we got caught and their quarterback ran it up the middle," Weir High coach Frank Sisinni said. "We got down on the first possession of the game just like we did last week."
The victors had nine drives on the night, and the last one covered 38 yards before they turned the ball over on downs at the Weir 42 late in the game.
Indian Creek amassed 437 yards of total offense on its way to its third win of the season. The Redskins totaled 277 yards and six touchdowns on the ground, while throwing for 160 yards and two more touchdowns through the air.
Weir recorded 146 yards of total offense. The visitors collected 46 yards on 24 carries on the ground, while throwing for 90 yards and a touchdown through the air.

Bruce Mazar ran for Indian Creek's final touchdown as he recorded 26 yards and a touchdown on four carries, Kyle Shultz scored on a 23-yard pass from Starkey and Mason Lester collected one reception for 33 yards.
Weir quarterback Lucas McAllister completed 5-of-11 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown, Damir Mowder recorded three catches for 70 yards and a touchdown and Landon Haught tallied 43 yards on four carries to lead the way on the ground.
Starkey opened the scoring on a 5-yard run on fourth down on the game's first drive of the game. Luke McMillion kicked the extra point to give the boys from Jefferson County a 7-0 lead with 8:51 left to play in the first.
Shultz then hauled in a 23-yard scoring pass from Starkey on the Redskins' second drive of the game. The extra point was no good, keeping the score at 13-0 with 6:10 left in the first.
The home team extended its advantage on the first play of the second as Nett plowed his way into the end zone from the 1 to make the score 19-0 with 11:56 remaining to be played before halftime. The extra point was missed once again.
Then, Pownall tallied Indian Creek's fourth touchdown of the night as he scored on a 5-yard run. This time, Starkey hooked up with Mazar for the 2-point conversion to increase Indian Creek's advantage to 27-0 with 7:17 to play before halftime.
After a bad snap on an attempted punt resulted in Indian Creek taking over at the Weir 11, McGee scored his first touchdown of the night on an 11-yard run on the first play of the drive to make the score 33-0 with 6:01 remaining in the quarter. The extra point was missed once again.
Following a Red Riders' punt, the Redskins took over at their own 38. After a 3-yard run on first down, Starkey hooked up with McGee for a 59-yard catch-and-run for another Indian Creek touchdown. This time, McMillion split the uprights on the extra point to make the score 40-0 with 4:04 still to play before halftime.
After a punt, the Redskins took over the ball at the Weir 40 on what turned out to be their last possession of the first half. The Redskins made it count. Pownall rumbled for 35 yards on the first down, and then he capped the scoring off in the first half with his second 5-yard score of the quarter to extend the hosts' advantage to 46-0. The extra point was no good.
"Ian did a good job of running the offense," Connor said. "We did what we needed to do. We were able to run the football. At Indian Creek, we pride ourselves on being able to run the football.
"We had two main goals coming into this season. We wanted to play great defense, and we are playing great defense. The second thing was we wanted to be able to run the football. There is no secret recipe, but if you can run the football and play good defense, you are going to win football games."
The Red Riders fumbled on their first possession of the third quarter, and the Redskins took over at their 24. Mazar scored on a 5-yard run to make the score, 52-0 with 6:41 showing on the scoreboard clock. Indian Creek took a knee on the extra point.
The Red Riders got on the scoreboard on the next drive as Mowder hauled in a 37-yard score from McAllister with 2:36 left in the quarter. Ben Howard booted the PAT to make the score 52-7 with 1:51 on the clock.
The Redskins turned the ball over on downs on its next possession, and the Red Riders got down to the Indian Creek 10 before time expired ending the game.
"We have gotten down two weeks in a row," Sisinni said. "We are going to keep grinding. We are going to look at the film. We are going to keep practicing, and we are going to get ready for next week."
The start of the second half was delayed due to a medical situation involving Weir's freshman Ryant Lyons. The two teams came together at midfield for a prayer while he was receiving medical attention on the field. Lyons was taken off the field on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital.
Both teams are scheduled to play Friday night on the road.
Indian Creek is slated to play at Brooke. The Bruins defeated the Redskins, 28-7, last iyear n Week 3 on the road.
"We are going to enjoy this win, and then we are going to start getting ready for Brooke," Connor said.
Weir will play Frankfort. The Red Riders defeated the Falcons, 35-21, last season at Jimmy Carey Stadium.
