Edison's bats get going, roll past the Huskies
CADIZ -- The trip to Cadiz on Saturday was a successful one for the Edison baseball team's bats.
Evan Kimmerle homered, had three hits and four RBIs, Kyle Long had three hits and two RBIs, Chase Freeman had a double, single and three RBIs and Cole Pittman tallied a double, two singles and an RBi to lead a 15-3 outburst against the host Huskies.
Tucker Snyder had a triple and an RBI for Harrison Central.
Big day for Dons' bats
WEIRTON -- The Madonna baseball team scored a combined 36 runs in a double header at home on Saturday, sweeping Wellsville 18-1 and 18-0.
In the opener, Chase Littleton homered and had two RBIs, Corey Gontas has a double and a single and an RBI, TJ Decapio doubled in three runs, and Jacob Lazear and Grant Wilharm had two RBIs, as did Caleb Kimberland.
In the second game, Kolton Grishkich tripled in a run, Grant Wilharm doubled in three runs, Littleton had a double, single and four RBIs, David Connors doubled and plated three runs and Matt Geer had two hits and two RBIs.
JCC sweeps Valley
PINE GROVE -- The Jefferson County Christian baseball team went on the road and swept a doubleheader with Valley on Saturday, 8-2 and 15-9.
In the opener, Lee Gump struck out nine in a complete game while Wyatt Hervey had a single, double and two RBIs.
In game 2, Ben Adams had nine strikeouts in a relief effort win, while having three hits and four RBIs at the plate.
SOFTBALL
Toronto falls at home
TORONTO -- The Toronto softball team dropped a 5-1 decision to visiting Monroe Central on Saturday.
Andrea Reeves had a double and a single, Michelle Anderson drove in the lone Knights run while Reeves fanned six in the circle.
Edison tops Sandy Valley
MAGNOLIA -- The Edison softball team went on the road Saturday and topped Sandy Valley 8-2.
Sophia Henderson and Grace Browning each drove in two runs, Ashlyn Pinkerton doubled and Allie Shrieve struck out 10 in the circle.
