Huskies use strong Baker performance to advance

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Harrison Central’s boys found themselves in familiar territory Tuesday afternoon at St. Clair Lanes.

The Huskies sat in sixth place following thee individual rounds of Ohio Boys Division II sectional bowling.

In order to remain in the Top 6 and secure one of the team qualifying spots to the District Tournament, the Huskies needed a strong Bakers showing. They received just that.

Harrison rolled a 1,076 through six rounds of bakers, the second-best Bakers performance behind Indian Valley 1,081, as the Huskies climbed the leader board to finish in third.

Indian Valley, behind strong individual showings from Brentin Irwin (608), runner-up Daniel Grewell (654) and champion Colton Long, ran away with the team title. The Braves finished with 3,945 total pins, well ahead of runner-up Carrollton at 3,504.

Long, the defending individual champion, fired an impressive 704 series, the only bowler to hit above the 700-mark as his second-game 257 also proved to be a high mark for the afternoon.

Barnesville was led by freshman Bo Detling, whose 577 series was good enough for fifth place, backed by teammate Keegan Martin at 553.

The Shamrocks missed the cut in 2023, finishing in 10th place.
