WEIRTON -- Catholic Central jumped out to a big lead early and rolled to a 68-45 victory over cross-river rival Madonna Thursday.
The Crusaders, now 4-1, led 27-5 after the opening quarter thanks to eight points from Ella Maragos, she connected twice from behind the arc, and Anna Arai. Central was up 41-19 at the break.
Maragos took game scoring honors with 25, she finished with five triples. Arai recorded another double-double -- 17 points to go with 16 rebounds.
Natalie Cherepko contributed seven points and Mary Rohde six.
Freshman Addie Welsh led the Blue Dons, now 2-3, with 16 points. Christany Bartley added 15.
Central returns to the hardwood Monday when it hosts a strong Monroe Central squad.
The Blue Dons are idle until Dec. 28 when they entertain Oak Glen.
