Toronto bounces back to hand Madonna its first loss of season

TORONTO -- The Toronto football team got a big, bounce-back win at home over previously unbeaten Madonna on Friday night, 47-13.
Russ Dickinson, who was making his first start in place of the injured Zeb Kinsey at quarterback, went 11 of 16 for 218 yards and a touchdown, while Dom Bouscher ran for 105 yards and two scores on 11 carries and Mason Marchbank racked up 90 receiving yards on four carries, including a 72-yarder, to lead the Red Knights to victory.
Drake Bouscher had a big night as well for the Knights, racking up 103 yards on 17 carries and three TDs, while Aiden Filby had 55 yards on a pair of catches and Dom Boucher racked up another 44 yards receiving.
"I'm really proud of the team, this was a great team win, and we had a lot of guys step up," Toronto heach coach Josh Franke said. "Russ Dickinson stepped in and showed that he's more than capable to lead this team as a quarterback, he had a great night throwing the ball.
"We were down to our third string tailback in Drake Bouscher and I believe tonight was a coming out party of sorts for him, he really showed what he's capable of doing and for a freshman, I think he has a very bright future. He ended with three total touchdowns, an interception, and seven total tackles.
"Madonna has a nice team, they're well coached, they have some great athletes, but our kids really rose to the occasion tonight. I feel like my guys were trying to prove a point that we shouldn't be counted out just yet."
The Red Knights led 20-7 at halftime, but the Blue Dons (2-1) pulled within 20-13 in the third quarter when Chase Littleton fired his second TD toss of the game to Koleton Grishkevich. He also had a TD pass to Luca Muzzi in the first half.
From there, though, it was all Red Knights (3-1).
Toronto travels to Oak Glen next Friday while the Blue Dons have a bye week.
Panthers get first win
YORKVILLE -- The Buckeye Local football team jumped ahead to an early lead and did not look back in getting its first win of the season, 40-6, over visiting Brownsville Pa Friday night at World War II Memorial Stadium.
Alex McDiffitt, making his first start at quarterback in place of injured senior Skyler Ebright, had a big night to lead the way, rushing for 155 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries. He also completed two passes for another 16 yards.
His biggest play of the night was an 83-yard touchdown run.
Xavier Eastham finished with 67 yards and a score on seven totes, while Wyatt Luyster racked up 52 yards on six carries and Koltn Roush added 46 on six carries, each finding the endzone once.
The Panthers offense that had been struggling in its first three games broke out with 369 rushing yards and six TDs on the ground, racking up 385 total yards in the win.
Andrew Jones had a big night for the Panthers defense with nine tackles, a sack and fumble recovery.
The Panthers travel to Monroe Central next Friday.
Brooke wins late
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke football team topped visiting University 14-9 to improve to 3-0 thanks to a couple of big late plays from the Sperringers.
Braelyn Sperringer scored on a 30-yard quarterback scramble with 1:27 to go to put Brooke on top, then Ty Sperringer sealed the victory with an interception in the final minute.
Brooke's first score came on a Gavin Moore pick-six in the first half.
The Bruins travel to North Marion next Friday.
