Indian Creek tops St. Clairsville 9-8 in OVAC preview
MINGO JUNCTION -- The Indian Creek baseball team fended off a late rally by visiting St. Clairsville for a 9-8 victory on Thursday.
The Redskins and Red Devils are set to meet again on Saturday in the OVAC Class 4A Championship game.
Creek scored three runs in the bottom of the first and opened up a 9-3 lead before the visitors tallied two in the sixth and three in the seventh before Creek was able to hang on.
Sal Barcalow tossed a complete game for Creek, striking out four.
Nick Maurer had three hits and an RBI, Aiden Orr had a triple and an RBI, Sy Howell drove in two runs with a base hit, Ladnon Pownall had a hit and two RBIs, Ty Householder drove in a run, as did Hunter Rusnak and Gavin Pownall doubled.
Edison blanks EP
RICHMOND -- The Edison baseball team scored early and often and Bryce Rogers struck out three in a five-inning complete game as the Wildcats topped visiting East Palestine, 17-0, on Thursday.
Gage Cline had two doubles, a single and three RBIs, Chase Freeman drove in two runs with two hits, JD Henderson drove in four runs with a triple and a single, Matt Parsons had a double, single and an RBI and Hunter Rotchacker had a double and two RBIs.
JM tops Btooke
WELLSBURG -- After the Brooke baseball team took an early lead, John Marshall came back with a three-run sixth to top the Bruins, 4-2.
Anthony Bachinski and Aiden Provenzano had the RBIs for Brooke, while Peyton Toepfer had a pair of hits.
Logan Fedak started, went five innings and fanned four.
UL pulls away from Weir
WEIRTON -- The Weir High baseball team dropped a 14-5 decision to visiting Union Local on Thursday.
Damir Mowder, Trey Cook, Anthony Early and Ryan Weber each had an RBI for the Red Riders, Cook finishing with two hits and Early a double.

Oak Glen tops Potters
EAST LIVERPOOL -- The Oak Glen softball team pulled away from East Liverpool on the road on Thursday to win the battle of the bridge, 12-2.
Sydney Brown blasted a home run, Sarah Brown drove in a pair of runs while Maddie Murray, Olivia Munoz, Addie Smith and Nevaeh Wells each had an RBI.
Lizzie Kell (nine) and Murray (three) combined to strike out 12 Potters.
The game was Oak Glen's final regular season game. The Golden Bears, who have won 13-straight, take on Edison in the OVAC championship on Saturday.
Creek falls at Dover
DOVER -- The Indian Creek softball team dropped a 6-1 decision on the road at Dover on Thursday.
McKenna Scott had the Redskins lone hit, while striking out two in 1 2/3 innings in relief.
Trinity Taylor fanned seven in 4 1/3 innings.
