BETHANY -- Bethany College announced that Jill Willson will serve as interim athletic director for the Bison.
"I am extremely grateful to have Jill Willson assist Bethany College during this time of transition," Interim President Jamie Caridi said. "She is regarded as one of the top athletic executives in the country who is frequently relied upon for her leadership, expertise and counsel. Jill knows Bethany and the PAC well, and will immediately make a positive impact on the college, our athletic department, and our student athletes."
Willson has extensive experience as an athletics administrator and a coach, including having served as the athletic director at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Since 2007, Willson has been relied upon by the NCAA to steward countless colleges and universities through the intercollegiate athletic process to thrive at the NAIA, Division III, Division II and Division I levels.
"We are excited to help Caridi and Bethany College with their program review and search for the next great leader in the athletic department," Willson said. "The staff in athletics is a great group of hard-working individuals and I look forward to learning lots from all of them."
Willson takes over following the stepping down of Mike Worrell, who will remain in his role as the head coach for Bethany's men's basketball program and associate director of athletics.
During Willson's tenure at Bethany, she will assist Caridi and the leadership team in Bethany’s strategic planning for athletics, serve as a mentor to the athletic administration and coaches, and to lead the search for Bethany's permanent athletic director.
