Toronto’s Shane Keenan, a 6-foot-6, 285-pound Youngstown State University commit, was named first-team in Division VII on the defensive line. The Red Knights standout had 44 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, three pass deflections and a 65-yard fumble return for a touchdown during the regular season.
On offense, he hauled in 22 passes for 395 yards and three touchdowns, rushing for another 244 yards and four scores.
Recently he was also named to the HSDT All-Area First Team on defense and was tied for second in the voting for All-Area Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a first-team selection on the East District list in Division VII.
“Shane is obviously a tremendous talent, and he is one of those kids that was a difference maker offensively and defensively,” Toronto head coach Josh Franke said follow Keenan’s all-district selection. “He has done extremely well for us and is going to be extremely hard for us to replace. He has a very bright football future and is going to go on to accomplish great things at the next level.”
He was a second-team All-Ohio player as a junior in 2020.
In addition, Toronto teammates Josh Fancher (offensive line), Jayce Nett (linebacker) and Dom Bouscher (defensive back) were each selected as All-Ohio Honorable Mention. Those three were also on the All-Area and All-East District lists.
