Teramana Post 33 falls short in Beast of the East

The Jefferson County Teramana Post 33 Legion baseball team fell in the Beast of the East semifinals to the Steel City Wildcats, 9-0, on Sunday.

Aiden Fernandez started the first 5 1/3 innings and took the loss. He allowed seven runs on eight hits, three walks and struck out four. Caleb Blawut and Connor Shultz relieved him. Offensively, Quinn McCoy tallied a single and a double.

Post 33 opened the tournament with two wins on Friday. It opened Saturday with a 7-2 victory over the Capital City Cardinals. Ty Householder earned the win in four innings, while Cooper Blackburn pitched the final three. They combined for two runs allowed on seven hits, one walk and punched out six. J.T. Thompson had the big bat with three base knocks and two runs batted in. Ryan Anderson produced a single, double and two RBIs. George Ash and Caesen Sutton each singled twice, with Ash also producing a run. Coy Amis walked five times and drove home one.

During Game 4, Jefferson County squeaked past the Motor City Hitdogs, 5-4. Hunter Rothacker was the winning pitcher, logging in 4 1/3 innings, four runs on three hits, two walks and four strikeouts. Blawut tossed 1 2/3 innings of relief, and Blackburn pitched the seventh for the save.

At the plate, Thompson hit a home run and drove in two runs. David Ferroni and Blake Connelly each doubled. Corey Cottis had a single and an RBI.

Post 33 tentatively hosts Barnesville at 6 p.m. today.
