Oak Glen stays perfect, bests Madonna 12-1

WEIRTON -- The Oak Glen softball team continued its perfect run with a 12-1, five-inning victory over Madonna on Monday.

Maddie McKay started the first three innings and got the win. She allowed one unearned run on no hits, three walks and struck out five. Lizzie Kell tossed the final two frames and allowed one hit, no walks and also punched out five.

Offensively, McKay produced a single, home run and four RBIs. Kell had two singles and two RBIs. Amber Moore singled and drove home a pair. Sarah Brown had a single and a double. Sydney Brown and Olivia Munoz each doubled and brought home one.

For the Blue Dons, Maddie Daugherty went the distance but took the loss. She struck out three. Landry Bone recorded an RBI, while Maddie Cross had the team's lone hit, a single.

The Golden Bears tentatively host Shadyside at 4 p.m. today, while the Blue Dons host Brooke on Wednesday.

Weir High 15, Wheeling Park 10

WEIRTON -- The Weir High softball squad won a marathon, 15-10, over Wheeling Park on Monday.

Chesney Tice started the first 2 1/3 innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on eight hits, no walks and struck out a pair. Madison Angus got the win in 4 2/3 innings of relief. She allowed two runs on three hits, no walks and punched out three.

At the plate, Mallory Rosnick had four base knocks and two RBIs. Mea Kaufman, the No. 9 hitter, tallied two doubles, one triple and two runs batted in. Sophia Aperfine singled three times and drove home three. Angus added three singles and an RBI.

The Red Riders (13-7) tentatively host Fairmont Senior today.

John Marshall 7, Brooke 2

WELLSBURG -- Seven errors cost the Brooke softball team during Monday's 7-2 defeat to John Marshall.

Lexi Foresha took the loss in the complete-game effort. She allowed no earned runs on 10 hits, no walks and struck out five. Angelina Lippoli recorded three singles, a double and an RBI. Maleaha Misch brought home the other run.

Rileigh Morgan started for the Monarchs. Tessa Wise relieved her in the third and struck out seven. Sophia Adkins singled three times, while Kylie Ward had two. Shelby Koontz produced a double and two RBIs. Joey Mangino contributed a single and an RBI.

The Bruins (13-3) tentatively travel to Madonna on Wednesday.
