Phillies walk off Pirates in exhibition

PHILADELPHIA?- Ben Revere hit a two-run walk off home run to lift the Phillies over the Pirates, 7-5, in an exhibition game Friday night at Citizens Bank Park.

The Pirates got on the board first with two runs in the top of the first inning. Josh Harrison drew a lead off walk and was driven home on a double by Gregory Polanco. Andrew McCutchen drove home Polanco on the first of his three hits of the night.

The Phillies responded in the bottom half of the opening frame with three runs before the Pirates tied it up in the second on a solo home run by Jordy Mercer.

Jeff Locke got the start on the mound for Pittsburgh, going five innings. Locke, who was recently named the team’s fifth starter, gave up four runs on four hits, striking out four and walking one. Radhames Liz, Tony Watson and Angel Sanchez appeared in relief.

The Phillies took the lead back in the fourth inning and the Pirates tied it up again on an RBI single by Locke. Pittsburgh led, 5-4, in the eighth o an RBI single by Sean Rodriguez.

Philadelphia plated three in the bottom of the ninth, including Revere’s home run. Sanchez was tabbed with the blown save.

Phillies starter Aaron Harang gave up four runs on nine hits. Jonathan Papelbon earned the win after pitching a perfect top of the ninth.

The teams play again today at 1:05 p.m.
