Dobbs, Reeves career nights lead the Red Knights over Big Red

STEUBENVILLE -- The Red Knights volleyball team battled to a five set win at Big Red on Wednesday night, and were led by a couple of big performances by two of its leaders.

Toronto, who improves to 5-0, fell behind early as Big Red took the first two sets by scores of 23-25 and 21-25, but battled back to win the final three, 25-16, 25-13, 15-10, to take the match and stay undefeated.

Hannah Dobbs and Andrea Reeves had career nights for the Red Knights to lead the way.

Dobbs racked up 38 kills, 22 digs, five blocks and four aces, while Reeves dished out 54 assists, had nine blocks, three kills, 12 digs and two aces.

Also for the Knights, Callie Anderson finished with 13 kills and 20 digs, Chloe Fisher tallied five kills and 13 blocks, Michelle Anderson had 22 digs and three aces, Riley Fisher racked up 19 digs and two kills and Brianna Anderson had six digs.

Central tops Madonna

STEUBENVILLE -- The Catholic Central volleyball team swept Madonna on Wednesday night, 25-6, 25-7, 25-10.

Lilly Balzano had 13 points, four aces, three digs and three kills, Hailey Cherepko finished with 33 points, 10 aces, five kills and seven assists, Kiera Gaffoli had 11 points, two kills and an ace and Anna Arai had 10 kills and two digs.

Edison tops Harrison

RICHMOND -- The Edison Wildcats beat Harrison Central 3-1 on Thursday night, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 25-15.

Hailey Teichman had 16 points, Audrey Scott had 12 points and four aces, Kendra Teichman had 11 points, Rebecka Evans had nine points, and Alexandra Ash had five.

Oak Glen sweeps Beaver

CALCUTTA -- The Oak Glen volleyball team improved to 3-0 with a sweep at rival Beaver Local on Thursday night, 25-23, 25-19, 25-7.

Ashlyn Six had 11 kills, Averi Martin had eight kills, McKenzi Martin had five kills, Jersey Smith had 22 assists and four digs,Tia Vick had five aces and Sydney Smith had 10 digs.

Bruins boys top South

WELLSBURG -- The Brooke boys soccer team pulled away from Parkersburg South for a 5-1 win on Wednesday evening.

Ben Ferguson tallied two goals and three assists, while Devin Cipoletti and Christian Packer each had a goal and an assist.

Evan Urso also scored, while keeper Christian Altizer made 10 saves.

Park girls top Brooke

WHEELING -- Wheeling Park's girls soccer team improved to 4-1-1 on the season thanks to a 7-0 victory against Brooke Wednesday evening.

The Patriots received at least one goal from six different players.

Junior standout Merritt Delk scored a pair of goals and also had a like number of assists.

Kaylee Hunt, Seneca Heller, Audrey Lantz, Katelyn Smith and Hailey Hastings scored the other goals.

Adlie Abraham and Ellie Reasbeck both had a pair of assists.

Ryleigh Hicks picked up the win in net. She recorded two saves en route to the shutout.

Buckeye Local tops tri

CADIZ -- The Panthers golf team topped Harrison Central and Toronto in a tri on Thursday.

The Panthers shot 177, while the Huskies turned in a 195 and the Red Knights a 218.

For the Panthers, Gavyn Romanyak-shot a 42, Aiden Polanski a 43, Kamden Kinyo a 45 and Adam Blackwell a 47.

Harrison Central got a 45 from Heath Clay, while Nash Roberts fired a 47, Ocean Rogers a 50 and Kaily Banal a 53.

Toronto -was led by Ty Suffoletta-and Noah Karaffa each shooting a 46, while Gunnar Blood shot a 62 and Logan Sloane fired a 64.
