False prophets, false flags

To the editor: I’ve been writing these letters for years, and to my memory I’ve never once mentioned Charlie Kirk, Nick Fuentes, or even Alex Jones or Rush Limbaugh. Why? Because nothing they’ve ever said has been worth a reply. Even now — barely a week after one of them was gunned down — I don’t think their words deserve my time. To the editor: As I look at today’s world and reflect on my own upbringing, I am beyond thankful for my parents. My sister, brother and I were raised with the following principles: Put God first in your life and everything else will eventually fall into place; nothing is more important than your relationship with God, so foster that relationship every chance you get; never use the Lord’s name in a derogatory manner as it is a poor reflection on you; go to church regularly because being part of a community is important; love and respect your father and mother because they are your ...

To the editor: The assassination of Charlie Kirk reminds me of a quote from Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto after his sneak attack on Pearl Harbor: “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” Less than five days after Kirk’s death, his organization received 34,000 requests to start a local chapter of Turning Point USA. To the editor: “Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent mind.” — Isaac Asimov I never met Charlie Kirk. He was just somebody whose social media “content” I liked. I admired his ability to debate. His courageous presentation of objective facts and truth, to people who resisted it. To the editor: Recently, President Donald J. Trump, in pure Trumpian fashion, has made it known that he plans to eliminate mail-in balloting in upcoming U.S. elections, declaring, without any supportive evidence, that the long-established and very popular procedure of mail-in voting is somehow corrupt, and has vowed to issue an executive order to eliminate mail-in balloting in order to bring an end to harvesting to the 2026 mid-term elections and beyond. Unfair maps illegal in Ohio

To the editor: When it comes to redistricting in Ohio, the issue is not about Democrats versus Republicans. It is about something much bigger: The health of our democracy. When political maps are unfair, it is the voters who lose, regardless of their party. Right now, the way Ohio’s legislative and congressional districts are drawn do not reflect the actual balance of our state.
