To the editor:
One thing that each one of us can be thankful for is that we are here, that we have been created for this time. One estimate of the total number of people in the history of the world is 100 billion.
Out of those 100 billion, do you know how many were exactly like you? Zero. Do you know how many people will be exactly like you in the future? Zero.
You are unique in the history and future of the world. You are one in forever. Our bodies may fade away, but our souls continue after the death of our bodies. We are already living forever. And you have been created by God for a purpose, here and now.
We can be especially thankful for the gift of Jesus that God has given to us. Jesus entered into our world, entered into our struggles, suffered, and died for each of us so that we can be forgiven of our sins. And then he rose from the dead to open up heaven for us. Now that is something to be thankful for. If you have not already done so, invite Jesus into your heart to be your savior.
No matter what has happened in our past, God continues to love each of us, with his mercy and forgiveness always available.
This Christmas season, let us pray for thankful hearts.
