Mamdani election an anathema

2 min read

To the editor:

There is a story of a mock election in a third-grade school class. Three candidates were vying to become class president. One promised to paint the walls and hang pictures; the second one promised colorful chalk and a bigger blackboard; the third one just promised "free ice cream." Guess who won? Not one kid asked, "How do we pay for the ice cream?"

The New York Democrats and populus who voted for Mamdani underscore the perversion of our democracy. In the 6th century BC, in the cradle of democracy, in ancient Greece, only citizens born in Athens were permitted to vote. All foreigners, the uneducated, servants etc. were not permitted to vote.

New York will sink further into the morass of crime and incompetence, the Democrats thrive in. A substantial portion of the corporate and high net worth tax base will move to Florida, real estate will drop like a rock and chances are that Whole Foods and Gristedes will move out.

Shukran (translation: Thank you), New York.

For those of us who were born in a dictatorship, lived under communism and fled socialism, the Mamdani election is an anathema.

I am a grateful U.S. citizen
