To the editor:

It is my pleasure to wholeheartedly recommend Councilman Royal Mayo for re-election to Steubenville City Council. As a lifelong resident of Steubenville and the current Fourth Ward councilman, I have had the privilege of working with Mayo for two years during my 12 years on City Council and on several community and economic development initiatives.

During his time in office, Royal has demonstrated unwavering dedication to improving the quality of life for all Steubenville residents. His leadership was instrumental in trying to secure HUD’s Choice Neighborhoods grant funds, which would create new jobs and revitalize the North End Community, affordable housing and encourage more recreational facilities.

Beyond some of his other accomplishments, Mayo is known for his integrity, his commitment and his genuine care for his constituents. He listens carefully to all voices — often going out of his way to meet with residents personally — and approaches every challenge with compassion and conviction.

For these reasons and more, I strongly endorse Mayo for re-election. Steubenville needs strong leaders like him — visionary, hard-working and deeply committed to public service.
