To the editor:
It now appears quite undeniable that President Trump's global trade war is beginning to have an alarming negative impact on U.S. businesses, as well as citizens, as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics recently revealed that only 73,000 jobs were added in the month of July in the United States, and that the second quarter has been recorded as the worst for job growth in our nation, with the exception of the pandemic period, since 2010.
As a result, Trump terminated the employment of Erika McEntarfer from her position as commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, stating that the "numbers were manipulated for political purposes," with absolutely no such corroborating data whatsoever. In fact, the aforementioned statistics were compiled as a result of the work of literally hundreds of non-partisan professionals, as always.
Are not such shocking actions reminiscent of Trump's distressing claim, which he continues to state to this day, that the 2020 presidential election was somehow rigged against him, refusing to accept the complete preponderance of irrefutable evidence to the contrary?
Also, it is unmistakably quite obvious that Trump is simply unable to admit his errors, as none of us is infallible, including him, and attempt to correct them and move forward, even for the good of our great country, as a result of his unparalleled, massive ego.
In addition, how it is that Trump recently ordered 500 federal law enforcement officers and 500 National Guard troops to be deployed in order to presumably help solve the violent crime problems of the nation's capital, stating that it had been overtaken by violent gangs and blood-thirsty criminals, roving mobs of violent youths, drugged-out maniacs and homeless people, when, as a matter of fact, the violent crime rate in Washington, D.C., is at a 30-year low, and the aforementioned takeover by federal authorities, under the orders of the president, is unsettling and unprecedented and is part of an authoritarian takeover of our nation's capital by Trump?
I am curious as to why Trump, if he truly believes that crime in D.C. needed to be addressed by federal intervention, refuse to do so during his first term in the White House when a multitude of insurrectionists invaded the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021? Also, it appears that Trump only expresses such concerns regarding crime in U.S. cities where Democrats or individuals of African-American heritage are in positions of ultimate leadership.
Coincidence, perhaps? Highly unlikely, as such actions by Trump, without exception, appear to be strictly politically motivated.
