We can’t be weak
To the editor:
An unpopular opinion, which I posted as a comment on social media. The person was complaining, rather bitterly, about Fourth of July fireworks causing issues for people with PTSD and other emotional problems:
“I’m sorry you have this issue, and it’s not that I’m unsympathetic, but there have been many, many people with PTSD and other problems for many, many years. They just courageously dealt with July 4, because they realized they were in the minority, and didn’t expect everyone else to kowtow to their own, personal issues.
“So, they — considerately, and even selflessly — endured it, letting everybody else have their noisy fun for a couple days out of the year. They didn’t cower and whine about it, and try to make everybody feel guilty, simply for enjoying themselves. They were better and stronger people than that.
“Now, though, in this modern era of petty entitlement, enforced inclusion, and of feebly surrendering to our anxieties and emotional problems instead of facing them and getting stronger from it, the many are expected to accommodate the few. We who do not have these problems are asked — and even expected — to not have our noisy, otherwise harmless, fun, because it makes some people jump and cringe, and crumble before their unchecked fears and emotional issues.
“What a weak society we’ve become.
“The same goes for emergency vehicles blaring sirens during parades. A handful are disturbed or unnerved by a few minutes of sirens sounding to the enjoyment of others … so they whine and complain, and the practice goes away. Weakness and impertinence win again.”
Am I wrong?
Certainly, I understand, but these people are adults. It’s not like Independence Day jumps out of the shadows and says boo! Intellectually, you know it’s coming; if one has such issues, prepare yourself. Don’t complain that others are having innocent fun, just because you fear the fun they’re having.
As in 1986 when Reagan bombed Tripoli, punching a cruise missile through Muammar Gaddafi’s palace and killing his daughter, Democrats predictably gasped, clutched their pearls and reflexively denounced Trump’s attacking Iran’s nuclear program. Trump had wisely not advised them on his plans.
This is because at heart, modern Democrats and liberals are traitors, preferring our enemies to be strong and dangerous. I think it started with the Carter administration, dismantling the Vietnam war machine, cutting the military budget and sucking up to the Soviets — standing aside, allowing them to advance their interests. It’s been like that ever since; liberalism causing unrest, instability and weakening America however they could.
We’ll see what ultimately happens, but despite Democrat whining that Reagan’s actions would “strengthen the hardliners” and make Libya a more dangerous threat, Gaddafi sat down, shut up and disappeared for almost 20 years. He reappeared as an ally, advising U.S. policymakers after 9/11. To punish him for assisting American interests, Obama and Hillary supported his opposition, which saw him essentially assassinated.
Democrats are traitors. They hate strong, pro-American leadership. Never forget that.
