To the editor:
I am writing to let voters in Steubenville know that they do not have to accept a lesser of two evils approach in this year's election on Nov. 5. I would encourage voters to wholly reject the poor options that the two major parties have presented for our consideration. As an alternative, I would encourage people to consider casting their vote for the American Solidarity Party's candidate Peter Sonski. This letter is an open invitation to join Sonski for a town hall discussion of what the American Solidarity Party stands for at 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at Froehlich's Classic Corner in Steubenville.
Our two parties have failed us through their subservience to corporate donors rather than by pursuing policies that would actually help our communities.
They are locked in partisan fights that are focused on winning for their side rather than promoting ideas that will enhance the common good. Voting for a third party is a way to reject the deadlock and corporate control in favor of a more humane option. A vote for a third party is a vote for your values and not a vote for the lesser of two evils.
The American Solidarity Party represents a radical realignment for American politics. Republicans promise pro-family policies when it comes to social issues like abortion but promote a savage economic system that undercuts families and communities. Our markets have become controlled by powerful monopolies who will sacrifice the common good for short-term profit. We need better regulations of markets to break up monopolies and give small businesses a fair chance. Democrats promise more support for labor and a more just economy but embrace progressive social policies that undercut the dignity of the human person. The American Solidarity Party promises a radical realignment that will support the dignity of life from natural conception until natural death, as well as economic justice for the most vulnerable and policies that will help our communities to flourish.
For information about Peter Sonski's candidacy, go to PeterSonsk.com or the American Solidary Party webpage at solidarity-party.org. I hope that you will consider casting your vote for the American Solidarity Party in November.
